The company was in business until 1933 and is known for being one of the first manufacturers of white gold jewelry in the United States. Belais white gold jewelry is beautiful and prized by many today. An aside about David Belais is that he was the founder in 1904 of the Humane Society of New York. He served without pay as its President until his death. He was instrumental in establishing the first free animal clinic at the Humane Society headquarters in 1929.
